About Paul Sharp

Paul Sharp, our consultant, is a director of Global Wine Consultants Limited. Paul has over 17 years experience in the wine industry, from winemaking to retail. He has extensive knowledge of the worlds wines and wine regions born from his passion for great wine experiences – or interesting ones at the least.
Paul first entered the wine trade in 1992 and since then has gone on to develop one of the most thorough understandings of the wine industry available. After working for a vineyard as assistant winemaker and viticulturist in Matakana, New Zealand, he decided to broaden his understanding of the wine industry. Like his great grandfather before him, he planted his own experimental vineyard in the Matakana area. He also worked as a viticultural contractor in that region, focusing his energies on improving each winery he worked for.
Paul’s outstanding knowledge of fine wine, in particular Bordeaux, lead him to his next role as the Fine Wine Manager for Glengarry Wines. This gave him a huge amount of experience in the fine wine imports, sales and Bordeaux en primeur.
From there Paul moved back to the production side of the business in an export and marketing role.
Along with the experience Paul has accumulated through his roles in the wine industry Paul has a vast education of the world’s wine regions, wineries and varietals.
