Sometimes you can find your self a little too close to your wines. When you have been working with them for so long it can be difficult to make the clear and sometimes hard decisions that are required for your wines to be a success. No amount of comparison tasting will let you step back, and assess your wines with an unbiased eye and palate.

Really you should be biased! You are pouring your heart, soul, and probably a good deal of the contents of your wallet into your winery and vineyard to make it a success. It’s hard not to become too close to your wines and become unable to judge them as objectively as you would like.

When seeking advice on your wines it is essential that there is no bias or hidden agendas.

You can talk to distribution partners, other wine makers maybe even wine media. Their advice can be good, but you are always left to wonder how much should you can rely on them and do they take their own situation into consideration before yours. More than likely their comments are suggestions are in good faith but if they are not, you won’t know.
